Hi,
Will Rune be available for the banana pro in the near future?

Love it already on the pi b2, but would like to loose the clicks and pops on the USB.
Side question for the pi, maybe a stupid one?! Can you connect via Ethernet thru the gpio pins, bypassing the Ethernet connector only giving the USB connection attention?

Hi JeffD,

is there are reason for the Banana Pro?

I have a working image for the Cubietruck.
The Cubietruck also is based on the allwinner a20 soc.
All outputs are working without issues:
HDMI
S/PDIF
I2S
USB

Hi Frank,

Thanks you for your answer!
My interest/goal is to build a streamer with the best possible sound quality. As Chanh stated the banana pi pro delivers great performance on that part. I don't know how the other performs. I only have usb and spdif on my DAC. I also have interest in Ian's (diyaudio group buy) FiFo, reclocker and spdif output for the raspberry pi. Or should I just buy an Auralic Aries streamer?
Maybe Chanh can comment on the possibilities?

Hi Guys!

I myself would love seeing RuneAudio works on Banana Pro. The Architecture is better than Pi. Fyi, I tried Volumio 1.5 for Cubbietruck, it doesn't load nor was working. Not sure the applicable to RuneAudio? Delighted to try if Frank allows?

Currently, I have the BPro, as streamer by using its builtin wifi as an access point. No router necessary, simply connect direct to the Banana Pro wirelessly via my iPad and JRemote JRiver all the way. :)

A Banana Pi vs Banana Pro.

Hi everyone, first post here, but i don't think it will be the last....

For a long time i have been looking for a PnP, cheap solution to stream digital files to my hi-fi setup. The idea is simple, a unit that just delivers the files from HDD or NAS to the stereo/DAC, without the need of a TV to operate (headless) and without the need for a PC to pinned down next to the hi-fi....
It seems very simple this concept but you would have to pay big money to get it working with a smooth user experience...So i started looking to alternatives to dedicated hi-fi gear for this.

Got into all this Rpi after i found volumio so i got myself an RPi2 and tried it. Was nice but was too slow and lacking functions. Then i found out about Rune (and all the history between Rune-Volumio) so i have been waiting for the Rpi2 support (playing with Rpi2 and Kodi/XBMC in the meantime).

Then i decided to try out the 0.3beta build for RPi2 and boy was i in for a ride.... Interface is much more responsive (looks much cooler as well :-)), more functions are there etc. In general a much nicer experience and feeling using it. So first of all, kudo's to you guys for all your work and efforts!

I tried it last night and i have a few comments/remarks/questions to give that might be of help (?) to the whole process -mind you i don't speak coding/programing at all:
-Works flawlessly with iFi iDSD micro USB DAC. Tried some mp3 and FLAC but not DSD yet
-Scanning the external hard drive i connected to it was slow (multiple volumes were showing up eventually but was slow) - searching was fast though, so maybe its indexing as well?
-Tried to stream from an iPad through airplay but the sound was choppy-distorted (first time i do this so i could have messed up something though it seems straight forward)
-Couldn't get the DLNA streaming to work (will spend more time in the coming days)
-Remote from browser works like a charm (pc and android) - interface is awesome!!!
-Possible to index a usb drive (and save the index) so if you connect the same drive at a later time it doesn't need to be scanned all over again?
-Do i always need to log-in with password (therefore need a screen & keyboard) or is this only for the beta?
-On android there was a strange visual thing that when scrolling around on the web interface and the library was updating the rotating arrows where flowing around in the screen instead of remaining next to the library button (could be my device?)

That's all for now, will try to test out more things and get back to you guys. If there is something i could try in my setup that could help with developing please let me know.

oh and did i say great work already?!?!

Hi ACX and thanks for the welcome!

-Since airplay is a known issue then i rest my case
-DLNA streaming worked fine with BubbleUPnP and Windows Media Player. Problem was i didn't set up things properly. Minor issue, Last.fm scrobbling when streaming through DLNA is only updated after the songs finished playing and there is no indication of "listening now". This could be related to how DLNA works (?) but thought i should mention.
-Loging in: ok now its clear how it works, noob mistake i guess :-)
-In windows 8 and using Firefox i can still get the same effect as the one you suggested with Chrome and trick to work after installing Rune controls (prompted first time i visited the IP address). Very nice feature
-The android thing with the refresh signal doesn't bother too much, just though i should mention if it makes some sense from your perspective.

Suggestions:
-When viewing library in Artist mode, clicking add or add replace and play does nothing to the queue. It only works on an album basis and not an artist one (view by artist option)
-Bit rate is shown as constant in playing now even for songs with variable compression
-Would it be possible to have a database with selectable fields in the library of all added to library items (using metadata) where you can sort by artist, duration etc
-option to keep the audio output simultaneously to the USB and or mini-jack and or HDMI so that you don't have to switch if you change your setup connections (or you want to use both for headphones or a Pi project?)?
