RuneAudio 0.4 Beta - RPi3 - Issues

Postby trumpy81 » 09 Oct 2016, 16:45

GDay All,

I have noticed that while navigating through Artists (browse MPD database by Artist) and when hitting the back button, it will sometimes take you to Dirble (null) or to Genres. That should not happen IMHO.

I have also noticed that if you change/correct any IDv3 tags, that the changes are not picked up and used and the old tags remain in the MPD database even after you go to Menu->Sources and click on Rebuild MPD Library.

Has anyone else seen these issues or is it just me or am I simply missing a step somewhere?

Any help/advice would be appreciated. :)

I am using the following equipment:

Raspberry Pi 3 Model B
Raspberry Pi Foundation 7inch Touchscreen
Logitech Z333 2.1 Speakers (via RPi audio out)
SanDisk Ultra 8GB Class 10

Thanks Frank.

I am glad you were able to reproduce the issue, it's always better if you can see it first hand. ;)

I will try the update -> rescan mod and let you know how it goes.

There was one other issue that I forgot to mention, if you create a playlist and then want to edit the name, the on-screen keyboard does not appear, so you must use a PC to edit the playlist name.

Thanks again Frank, I appreciate all that you do. :)

Frank, I made the change as you specified but unfortunately it was not entirely successful.

As can be seen in the attached image, there are a few artists that are duplicated with slightly different spellings. Those spelling errors were corrected in the file names and tags but they remain in the Rune Audio database.

I rescanned twice just to make sure, each scan takes approx. 45mins.

I also noticed that it does a quick scan when first booted but that only lasts a few seconds.

Any ideas?

I use Tag & Rename for all of my tagging and I don't have any issues with it at all.

I have double and triple checked the files, but still the changes are not reflected in the MPD database.

I have updated the MPD database twice and rebooted the RPi2 between each update, but they refuse to update.

I should add that some of the changes I made to other files were updated, but there are still these few stubborn ones that wont update.

Is there anyway I can edit the database manually and clear out these stubborn tags?

Synology DS214+ -> RP3 -> Hifiberry Digi+ -> Audio-Gd NOS1704 (coax) -> Audio-GD C-2 preamp/headphone amp ->

1) Yamaha M-4 Power Amp -> Energy Pro 22 Speakers OR 2) HiFiMan HE-400i

With all due respect, I do know how to check a tag and maintain a filesystem. Hopefully, the images below will demonstrate the issue.

Issue01.jpg
Image 1 shows one of the offending files in File Explorer. Notice the address bar as the file is stored on my NAS which happens to be named DISKSTATION. You will also notice that the file name has been corrected.

Issue02.jpg
Image 2 shows the same file opened in Tag&Rename. The file name has been corrected and the Artist tag has also been corrected.

Issue03.jpg
Image 3 shows the same file within RuneAudio. You will notice the album name at the bottom and the dual entries that show that the corrected file has been added, but the incorrect file entry has NOT been deleted. So Frank's solution has partially worked, but for some reason it has not removed the old entry. This applies to several other files, some that had a file name change as well as a tag change and some that simply had a tag change.

Issue04.jpg
This image shows the same file open in a Hex Editor and hopefully you can pick out the IDv3 tag at the beginning of the file. It also shows the corrected tag. You will also notice the file address at the top of the window.

I will also note that I made a further update to the MPD database before taking these screenshots.

I have also run the files through mp3Checker and all passed the test, so it is not a faulty file at fault here either.
