RuneAudio first run...

Postby Gierre » 31 May 2016, 21:27

Hi from italy, i've just installed RuneA on my Rasp2 but i could not go on with it due to a couple of problems. Can you please try to help me going on?

First one:
do i have to insert login and password everytime i start RuneA? What if i don't enter them? I found out that RuneA starts as well... what's the difference between entering them or not?

Second one:
i entered the path to my windows7 shared folders with music inside, i see the link in Rune became green (so i think everythink is ok) but no file appears in the library.
Where do I go wrong?

Thanks and forgive me for my "bad" englis :)

Hi, and welcome to the forum.

1) Not sure I understand your question, but I personally do NOT log in to play music, or use the Rune UI for anything else. Only if I want access to the file system for maintenance etc.

2) Check the directory permissions for the Windows shared folders. I set mine so that anyone on my local network has read access to all the shared music directories. If you must have password protection, then you have to add the username and password to the network mount in RuneAudio.

I see Rune asking for a login and a pw while booting if i connect my rasp to a monitor via HDMI. It starts regulary after a little .... even if i don't enter anything. Otherwise i see a black page with some white messages (which i don't remember now) and everything seems to be the same.

My windows folders are shared with "everyone" through the folder sharing option... i can easily access them using other device in SMB or DNLA mode... i don't know what else can i do.

The login prompt while booting, before the UI is displayed, is normal. When the local browser is enabled, the login prompt is displayed for a short time, then a white screen, then the local browser screen. It is confusing, but that is how it works for everyone.

I would probably try to remove the share, and try to add it again, but this time with your username and password (temporarily). Guest access may be disabled, or the guest account not working for some reason, or it does not have permission to access the content of the shared directory. If that does not work, try creating a temporary share, put a few music folders in it, and use that to test.

That is all I can think of.

When using RuneAudio to access a shared folder on Windows 7, I would suggest using your Windows 7 login username and password in the RuneAudio settings. On Windows 7 (depending on the build version) the guest account has limited access rights, your Windows 7 login username will have full administrator rights/access and using that authority from the RuneAudio share configuration settings will get you in the door.

Ok thanks... i'll try as you suggest.
Anyway I have no password set with my administrator account in win 7 ... so i can try using my account name and leaving a blank space in the pw field. I'll let you know.
