runeaudio wifi and set up problems for raspberry pi 3 b

Postby mconnolly862 » 28 Mar 2016, 16:38

Hi im just new to the forum, im trying to run runeaudio through my raspberry pi 3 model b,i have downloaded the image file from the website, and installed it to the sd card, ive loaded it onto the pi and there is a boot up screen and then appears the login screen for runeaudio after about 5 seconds it logs itself in and displays the typical ui note too i have connected my pi to a monitor via hdmi cable. I also have a keyboard and mouse attached, although they dont seem to be working very well with the ui as it does not display the mouse icon. none the less it still gives me the functionality and if i hover over the right part of the screen i can access the menu panel, i have tried to choose networks and pick my network and i have gotten as far as to being just about able to type in my passcode, im trying to do it through the pi as i am unable to connect to the ui via a web browser on my laptop or p.c it displays the message like can not find address etc or address took too long to load or something along those lines, i dont really want to set it up and add my several Nas devices through the pi , any advice on this would be great, i could be missing something simple im new to this but yeah thanks. :)

Have you tried connecting the Pi 3 to your home network using an ethernet cable, long enough to configure the WiFi (then you can unplug it again)?

I'd need a 25 m cable lol don't have one on me I suppose I could plug it down stairs and take my monitor down stairs for the set up, is it possible to use putty when running runeaudio to allow me control via my laptop I've only had experience using it on raspbian

mconnolly862 ...
I have the same problem.
It is very straight forward to move the RPi to a location where you can connect by wire to your home network.
Using a laptop to BROWSE in via the UI, just to get the Rpi set up for wireless and then move it to the final location to set it up with whatever audio gear you have.
I have an RPi2 but cannot believe the RPi3 is that different
Hope this helps

I've fixed my iPhone address on my pi via my bt hub router panel is that advisable or not I know from experience with things like nas and a few of my linn ds products it helps but would it be wise to use the static up or switch it back to dynamic....

Use dynamic for the setup (DHCP), after that use whatever you want. I have assigned static IP addresses to my two Pi's, but only after they were configured.

You do not need to take a monitor or a PC with you. Just plug the Pi into a spare port using a cable, and then the browser on your PC can find the dynamically assigned IP address which corresponds to runeaudio, or runeaudio.local
