sdCard

Postby cthomas117 » 03 Jun 2016, 01:11

Is there such a thing a buying Rune Audio pre-configured on an sdCard? I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong as I am a newbie ti the RPi3. I've followed the usual instructions to format the sdCard and to write the ISO to the sdCard, but when I insert the sdCard and power up the Pi, I get the rainbow colored circle.

Any help would be appreciated. I've gone so far as to overwrite and erase the sdCard instead of just the 'quick format'.

You asked......

Do you have a DAC or DIGI attached? No
Do you output the audio signal via USB to an external DAC? No
Do you have other USB devices attached to the Raspberry Pi's USB connectors? I have a USB keyboard and mouse plugged into the RPi3

I purchased the QVS power supply for the PI; its 5V and 2A. Although, it doesn't specifically say for the Pi3; just Pi A, B & B+.

I just tried the sdCard in one of my RPi3's that I bought as a kit and got the same results (the rainbow circle.) The power supply from the kit is 5v and 2.4A.

I'll also add, given your advice, when I powered up the PI, I had nothing plugged into the USB ports.

I should also add, I'm able to get it to power up with an sdCard loaded with Raspian using the original 5v, 2A power supply.

Yes, I am using Windows 10 and I have followed the directions. I'll utilize the info from the links you've provided and see what happens. I appreciate the help.

Let's assume the power supply is fine since you are able to boot the default RP Raspian.

I checked my notes since I've done this a few times and I used http://sourceforge.net/projects/win32diskimager/ to create the disk image.

I'd suggest you try creating the image again. The link below says if you get the rainbow screen it is either a bad kernel or power supply problem.

rAudio 1, Raspberry Pi 4B
rAudio 1, Raspberry Pi Zero W

Hi cthomas117,

- you have the right ?
- with win32diskimager the downloaded file should be unzipped first (7zip)
- what happens when you reinsert the card in your win10 PC? Do you see the boot folder with the kernel7 file?
- please try it without keyboard and mouse.
