Still no luck with me either I'm afraid. I've tried the following:

1) Creating a new user account
2) Changing which folder I share
3) Sharing a completely different folder on my hard drive

None of these worked.

Have I got the details in the RuneUI form filled out correctly?

Hello,
MacOS is based on Unix, can't you share your folders thru NFS ?

Thanks for the suggestion. Just tried it out, but still no luck. When filling out the form in RuneUI, if I select NFS, I don't get an option to enter a username / password (or select guest mode).

I have managed to get it working correctly! I needed to go in to the options page of the file sharing pane in system prefs, and select the tick box next to the user name of the account I want to share from. Who knew?!

Ok, a quick rundown on how I got this working. As a follow up because I started this thread, sort of a What I've Learned sort of thing. This is just for the Music folder inside your Users>username folder, other folders may need some adjustment.

On the mac, I have the firewall turned off. My assumption is that you have admin powers to do this stuff - if you don’t I’m not sure this will work. In System Preferences, go to the Sharing page, and check File Sharing on the left side, and then click the + button below the Shared Folders: column, and navigate to your ~/Music folder, and click Add. Then select that folder from the Shared Folders: column - over on the right there will be a Users: permissions thing, you probably don’t need to do anything here, I didn’t, but the way it’s set for me is that my user name can read & write, and Everyone is set to No Access. Then, click the options button, and in the dropdown that appears, check the box for your account, and check the Share files and folders using SMB box if it isn’t already.

You will also need your computers Ip address - you can find that a number of ways, but you want to make sure that it’s the one that the router/wifi sees you computer as, so using your router set up page or an external app might be a good idea. I have fing on my phone which is super handy for this.

Then in the Rune UI, go to Menu>Sources, and in Network Mounts, click the Add New Mount button. Then we need to fill in lots of stuff.

Source Name - is just what the mount will look like in the Library page. Can be pretty much anything.

fileshare protocal - has to be SMB/CIFS(OS X share).

IP address - enter the IP address you located earlier (I.E. 192.168.1.xxx)

Remote Directory - for the Music directory in your home folder, just type “Music” (no quotes though). Apparently full paths confuse things, although I’m not sure why. Maybe someone else can provide tips for providing paths to other folders.

Guest access - set to OFF.

Username - use the all lower case, no spaces version of your user name that your mac created when you entered your full name when you set up your account on the mac. Typically it’s everything you typed, but without any capitalization or spaces; although sometimes it gets truncated if it’s too long. Look in finder for the name of your home folder inside the Users folder - that’s what you want to use.

Password - the one you use to log into your user account. Presumably you know it.

Advanced Options - leave this turned off.

Once you’ve got this all entered, click the blue Save Mount button, and it should show up in your Network Mounts list with a green check mark. If it has a red X instead, something’s gone wrong, try again after changing things.

Oh, and if you have auto rebuild turned on (the default), the library will immediately start rebuilding, which is going to take a Very Long Time - don’t interrupt this, or not everything will get indexed. Like, let it go overnight.
