Settings not saving; getting logged out

Postby sduck » 18 Feb 2017, 05:12

Please bear with me, newbie here.

Just set up Runeaudio on a raspberry pi 3B with a hifiberry DAC+ card installed. Set it up according to instructions, got wifi working, can log in via my browser. Edited the config.txt file to use the hifiberry. I can get into the MPD settings, and select the hifiberry dac+ option, save settings, and can start playing a track off a usb drive. However, the browser interface then immediately locks up, becomes unresponsive. The player keeps playing, but won't stop or anything. I have to unplug the device and reboot it to log back in. When I do, it has reset to the default internal dac setting.

This is as far as I've gotten with this - and it's very frustrating. None of this is covered in the troubleshooting. I'm probably not providing nearly enough details - I'm using a mac, up to date everything. Please let me know what I need to tell you to help you help me - thanks!

Hi sduck,

changing the output device works on the fly, do not save anything.

Before playing a song wait until the database is indexed.
Depending on the size of your library this may take some minutes.
On the bottum left (library button) you should see a spinning sing during update.

Why would there be a Save button then? And why isn't the DAC+ remembered? I shouldn't have to reset the audio output setting every time i turn it on.

I've waited until the database is indexed. That's not an issue.

Still would like to know why the connection to the player cuts off after a few seconds of playing. Makes the thing unusable.

Ok, after some experimentation with volumio, which also had problems, I'm back to using runeaudio. Perhaps it was reinstalling it, or maybe using a different address to access the player ui, but it seems to be working now. No longer freezing up. Haven't done enough experimentation to see if settings are getting saved or not, but so far no problems.

So after a brief honeymoon where everything worked, it's back to the same stuff. I can start a file playing, but then everything locks up - can't stop playing, access any menus, reload the ui, nothing. And it's not saving the configuration again.

This completely sucks. Considering throwing this toy away.

Hi sduck,

your debug data looks good so far.

This all sounds like you have network issues.
The internal wifi (RP3) isn't the best at all.
How far is your access point away from your Pi?

Yes, I was thinking that it might be a wifi issue also. I have changed the channel my wifi is broadcasting on, to one that a neighbor isn't slightly interfering with. Also tried moving the device to a more exposed location. I'm one floor above the router/access point, almost directly above it, and am getting a strong signal according to the wifi set up page.

I also reinstalled the older version, v0.3-beta (23/03/2016). Still getting locked out.

I did notice in the status screen this -

I'm surprised that it's reporting a Raspberry Pi2, because as far as I know I have a 3B.
