Shuffle Whole Library

Postby PanicFan » 05 May 2015, 06:24

Pi2 and PiDac+ from Iqaudio are on the way and i am giddy with anticipation.

I plan to play mainly FLAC files with a ~ 1TB USB Hard Drive connected to a powered USB hub that is also powering the Pi2. I have done alot of reading and Rune Audio is the player I will try first (and hopefully last)

My questions:

1) has the issue to randomly play the entire library been addressed yet?
2) If not, is there a work around where the entire library can be added to the Queue and then allowed to be played randomly?
3) would #2 above require a long time wiith ~200 GB of files to do on the Pi2?
4) Is there a protocol for shutting down Rune Audio and the Pi2 to add additional songs to the hard drive? (as i will continue to acquire music)

Thanks for all that you all have done! Cant wait to start tinkering and listening!

Hi PanicFan,

1) no, the "global random" feature is not ready yet
2) yes, you can still add all your library to the queue (I have now 12800 entries :D)
3) just some seconds to add it, but it's going to slow down both MPD and your browser after that
4) why should you shut it down to add music? When you're done with it, simply update your library ("Rebuild MPD library" button in the Sources section)

If i am using a Hard Drive connected to a USB hub that is also powering the Pi2, i thought i needed to turn everything off 1st. Then take my hard drive connect it to my main computer, and add more songs to it.

I also will want to back that hard drive up too. I assume That the RuneUI has a command to turn the Pi2 off?

Thanks so much for the quick answers! Still waiting on my Pi2 and PiDac+ to show up and still giddy with excitement!

Cheers!

So go to
MENU > Turn off > Power off
for a safe shutdown :)
