SMB share and D-Link router

Postby Gingko » 21 Feb 2015, 08:16

Hi, I am having problems mounting my share. I have a 2TB WD HDD attached to my D-Link DSL-2890AL. With ip 192.168.x.x and remote directory WD_Ext_35321 and guest access I get a green tick, and the library Including the file Music) updates and everything works. However, when I change the remote directory to WD_Ext_35321/Music to just connect to the music file, I get a red cross and: mount error(2): no such file or directory.
The path I am using seems to be correct, and is: \\192.168.x.x\WD_Ext_35321\Music which is the path in Windows explorer. The router is set to allow guest access, but the same thing happens if I change permissions to require a password.

Any suggestions to help me resole this will be much appreciated.

If I remember correctly how Windows shares work, you cannot specify a subdirectory in your Rune mount option.
That is, \\192.168.x.x\WD_Ext_35321\Music is illegal but \\192.168.x.x\WD_Ext_35321 is ok.

What I beleive you have to do is to go to D-link router settings and create a new share whose root directory is WD_Ext_35321\Music and not WD_Ext_35321. i hope that's possible for your router. You should be able to name that share "Music" or something like that Your Music folder will be shared twice, so to speak, but that shouldn't be a problem. and then in Rune settings, you should mount \\192.168.x.x\Music

Hope this helps
