yea for sure, both were pointed to the same share, which has not changed.

i dislike the beta tag on software it implies there is a stable version, but i could not find one for rune, perhaps you guys are a bit like google and their famous rolling beta program lols.

any how Bliss is doing some organising and i have deleted a lot of chaff, hopefully that will sort it.

Yea BLISS is fantastic, in the settings you tell it to organise your library and it goes about its task in the background, will add artwork to specified sizes as well.

Its all done now, and what do you know the scan took like 5 minutes, horray!

Now does anyone here know anything about logitech media server? Its set with UPNP to be on, but this does not work. I wonder if its because its on the same computer that is displaying windows media player. But I cannot seem to turn media player off.

Sorry forgot to say there is a cost and I do appreciate its a fair amount for unlimited fixes.

I do not use it as a background thing though, I just run it once in a while to clear up my mess then close it down.

What I need to do I think is create a music server. I have a spare proliant here.

So have any of you guys set up a server what software did you use? I tried vortexbox once a long time ago but that was a bit technical for me, perhaps its got easier over time?

Most of the server solutions running Linux will do a good job, but they all take some administration, sometimes a lot of hours if you are not familiar with the particular flavor of Linux. Old computers use more power and make more noise than new ones. It got so I could hear mine running from inside a closet on quiet mornings.

I am planning on setting up another Pi with a hard drive, or maybe an Odroid C2 (because its network performance is better).

I also found that a Pi running Xbian/Kodi (which I have for videos) does a credible job as a UPnP media server for RuneAudio, smart TVs and my laptop. That way I may be able to use one system for video, and still have a media server running in the background. The UpNP server is an option in the system settings, and that's it. If Rikardo is reading this, maybe he will have some idea about how well Xbian would run with more than one person using it at a time.

My all-time favorite was Serviio running on a computer I kept for a while to run Windows 2000. At the time there was no supported Linux version of Serviio. Btw, Serviio is not completely free any more. Payment is sort-of voluntary, but encouraged. I paid for it, because it saved me a lot or work compared to other options I had at the time (Serviio transcoded video files on the fly, organized files, the IMDB connections worked well, recognized most popular smart TVs and BR players, etc.).

I have used OMV for a lot of years rock solid performer and a great way to a cheap nas solution, has plugins for good stuff too like PLEX.

For now however I have decided to install daphile onto this proliant, I'll see how I got on with that.
