Spotify not playing on V0.4b

Postby ianhaynes » 19 Jul 2017, 18:09

When I was running the earlier V0.4 20141216 I was able to use Spotify on Rune and had it working for several months (although see later comment).

Having switched toV0.4b some time ago I've only now tried to get Spotify working on this version. Having set up the Spotify account I can see the playlists and add them to the Rune Queue, but they won't play.

In looking at this I found I'd got an earlier SD card I'd blown of v0.4 20141216. Although I can set up the Spotify account on this, it won't even read the playlists.

So, there seems to be something odd going on here. Can you give me any idea of what to look for in order to solve this?

I'll compare the debug information from the three SD card versions and see what I can find.

There was nothing obvious to me in the debug data so I started again with a clean install and Spotify worked again.

On the previous installation I'd added Python etc and I assume that this in some way affected Spotify. I'd used Python to run a service that switched a LED on to indicate that the Pi was running. This was completely unneccesary and all I needed to do was to direct the activity LED to an external LED, per the hints given in config.txt. So simple I missed it... Having a leaner system means a quicker bootup (5 secs) and quicker switch off. Better all round.

Pleased to get Spotify back again.
