sshfs on Rsp3

Postby bnilsson » 06 Jun 2016, 16:04

Hi!

I would like to connect to a server using sshfs.
I have no problem doing this from the CLI in principle, but I cannot figure out how to get it usable from the RuneUI.
What mount point should I use to get it visible in the UI and accessible to MPD?

(this time I DID search the forum, but I found nothing appropriate)

Hi bnilsson,

sshfs is not supported by RuneAudio.

Is there a reason why you would like to use sshfs?
I'm asking because sshfs is the slowest option to mount remote directories.
The problem with sshfs is that the data has to be encrypted and decrypted on its way.

If your music is on a linux machine the best option would be nfs.

Edit:
If you need sshfs you can mount it manually via fstab.
The mount point has to be /mnt/MPD/NAS/your-folder (because this is the place where mpd looks for music).

The encryption/decryption overhead was something I did not consider, thanks for pointing this out.
I will investigate the NFS instead.

Edit: NFS works perfectly. I am totally satisfied with my RuneAudio setup, and I will spread this to my friends.
However, I am eagerly waiting for Qobuz streaming support...
