Tags ID3v1 or ID3v2?

Postby pmicho » 13 Jan 2015, 20:48

Hi!
I'm using a third party client mainly because I like the library views. Hopefully, Runeaudio eventually comes with a more extensive featured Library view.
In the mean time, I use Cantata and MPDroid. I have problems with tags. Some genres are just ignored. Question: is Runaudio scanning ID3v1 or ID3v2, or both?
Thanks a lot for the great work done. Runeaudio is a great project. A pi with Runaudio brings joy to my living room.

If you are using a third party client you are connecting directly to MPD bypassing the RuneUI, so all standard MPD's functionalities supported by your client should work as expected. What specific tags are ignored? Could you test that with other clients too?

Hi,
Thanks for your answer.
My problem is even more complicated then I thought.
In fact, it's entire files that the scan doesn't find. In Runeaudio, folders are there...but empty, when the files still do exist in their real folders on my computer. Its seems the absent files are related to a batch tag change I made for a genre in Rhythmbox. I tried to change a genre to Alternative on around 2000 files. They kind of got corrupt because the scan is not able to see them. I get same result with third party mpd apps. But I see them in Banshee, Clementine and other players.
If I use a backup of my music folder that did not go through the batch genre changes then I see the files again in Runeaudio.
Strange....
