HW = Hardware - what DAC are you running with your Pi (Ie the Digi+) and what else do you have connected.
If the Pi keeps working when your PC is off, this is normal. The PC supplies the USB +5v in standby mode most of the time.

Sir...Oh...

Hardware: Windows PC: X79-UD5 Gigabyte Motherboard; 2011 socket, i7, 32GB Ram; Little Dot DAC. All HW is connected with wire through my Netcomm Router with Cat 6 cables. Pi-3 is connected to a switch that is connected to the Netcomm router and it is connected via optical cable to the DAC. DAC is connected to a pre-amp and this is connected to a power amp and various other pices of equipemtn.

Hope this helps....

"At this time, once you activate a poweroff, or shutdown, you can only restart the Pi by turning power physically OFF and then back ON. This is the normal way for now. It is the same for everyone. This has nothing to do with the problem you reported. Same result from the browser UI, or from remote terminal/ssh, or Putty, or a local keyboard. This is how the Pi is wired. Once a shutdown is activated, turning power off is safe.

On the other hand, a reboot should result in a safe shutdown and restart without the need for turning power off and back on.

Are you on WiFi or wired ethernet?

When WiFI drops out at my Rune player, sometimes my laptop will not connect again, so the Pi can no longer be controlled from the browser and the UI. When this happens the UI will not display the correct state. See earlier post, here:

web-ui-occasionally-does-not-update-t3233.html"

Thank you Peter B.... I am not really understanding what you said and I completely do not understand the link.....

I think you are telling me that somehings are OK and somethings are not OK...but I have not idea what is OK and what is not OK....Hope to get this simple stuff...then I have more issues with the software or perhaps it is the operator

I am on wire

Sir

Sorry....PI-3 Plug pack PSU 2.5Amp 5.1V... I bought this with the Pi-3 as the recommeded PSU. I have a HDD enclosure (with SSD's) connected to the Pi-3 via USB connected to the USB on the Pi. HiFiBerry Digi + connected to the Pi-3 and using an optical cord to the Littel Dot DAC....There is a Cat 6 cable connecting the Pi-3 to a switch that is connected to a NetComm router.

Is this what you want....??

Sir

I think I know what you mean.. I keep have to refresh my knowledge of the abbreviations.

I used Putty and I loged in as: root...Password; rune...then I typed: sudo poweroff - the music stopped and the rotating arrows appreade...like the Chinese snakes eating their tails...

I could not reconnect to the Pi-3 and had to pull the power cord out and re-attach....surely this is not good???? It is taking some time for the Pi-3 to connect.... I will unplug it again and see if it will load.....

It started automatically without me logging on via the browser...strange....I wonder if it really closed....this really is confusing.

Is this good...bad...OK....still cannot close it from the browser....

Any ideas???
