Turning the Software Off???

Postby foxint » 15 Apr 2016, 00:06

Power on and off:

Go to Menu/Turn off the player/POWER OFF

So far 10 times and I do not think it has turned off??? (using the browser – Chrome).

The music continues…

So I close Brower.

The music continues and the same song keeps playing and playing over and over again….

Launch Chrome. Same song…

How do you turn it off??

It seems like a simple question…. I am not really comfortable pulling the power cord all the time???

What you see in the browser is just the user interface, so when you close the browser, the player does not automatically turn off. You should try to stop it, or pause it, from the playback screen first. If that does not work, then try from Menu -> Turn off > Power off.

If Frank or someone else is going to help, you have to post if you have the latest version of the software, what kind of network you are on, Windows or Android, how you access the UI (static IP address or DHCP), etc.

Sir
Thanks for the reply.

I am very happy Frank does answer so many post...but I am jsut as happy if I get a reply with the answer....

I have been doing:

Menu -> Turn off > Power off - it does not appear to turn it off. Possibly I do not know what to lool for??

No sure how to tell if I have the latest software...how is this done? I went to Runeaudio Porject ..its says release version: 0.4

I am on Win 10 and have a statis IP address.

OK..stopped the media I am listening to...Menu -> Turn off > Power off...it appears as Nothing is happening??? I push the play button and the media starts again..

To my uneducated understanding the Menu -> Turn off > Power off - is not turning the Pi off.....

I ask again....how do I turn it off.

my best bet you should try reinstall RuneAudio
You can save a lot of time trying to figure this out if you dont like digging into code

Sir
Thank yo.

I would prefer not to re-load it... I have to get the laptop with the card reader and I have already done it 3 times.

the reboot function also appears not to work.

I tried using putty and did the sudo reboot - it rebooted....strange. Then tried sudo poweroff.....

I then tried to log on (if that is the correct term) using the browser...Could not be reached (this has happened before)...Then tried putty and again could nto be reached.....

It seems the only way to re-awaken the Rune/Pi is to pull the power cord and reattached....

These says to me the reboot and the poweroff function do not work????

HELP - when I get this simple thing fixed (I hope the other problem go away)....

Any other suggetions from out there???

At this time, once you activate a poweroff, or shutdown, you can only restart the Pi by turning power physically OFF and then back ON. This is the normal way for now. It is the same for everyone. This has nothing to do with the problem you reported. Same result from the browser UI, or from remote terminal/ssh, or Putty, or a local keyboard. This is how the Pi is wired. Once a shutdown is activated, turning power off is safe.

On the other hand, a reboot should result in a safe shutdown and restart without the need for turning power off and back on.

Are you on WiFi or wired ethernet?

When WiFI drops out at my Rune player, sometimes my laptop will not connect again, so the Pi can no longer be controlled from the browser and the UI. When this happens the UI will not display the correct state. See earlier post, here:
