USB HDD makes strange sound when raspberry is shutdown

Postby Hubble49 » 05 Nov 2015, 17:50

When I shut down or reboot my raspberry over the web UI the connected USB HDD (I tried several 2.5 " HHDs to rule out defective hardware) produces a sharp "clack sound". This does not occur when I use the unmount function under sources in web UI before shutdown. It doesn't matter if I connected the HDD directly to the PI or via powered USB hub.

Is it possible to automatically unmount the HDD before shutdown?

I'm using a PI 2 and the newest version of runeaudio (updates already installed).

Apart from that Runeaudio works absolutly perfect.
With best regards
