USB Volume Adjust

Postby g8chk » 26 Oct 2016, 09:38

Hi
As a newby to Rune and RPI I have got running an RPI3 with a plugged in cheap ebay sound card. Works ok but volume from plugged in speakers is vey low. I assume this can be increased by doing some editing at the command line somewhere? Please can someone give some simple instructions? Thanks Roy

Between your Pi and the speakers, do you have an amplifier, either as a separate item or in the speakers (ie active speakers)?

Most 'ebay' pi soundcards are DACs only, and do not amplify the sound.

Do you control the volume of these speakers with the PC, or do they have a volume control knob?

I have a standard set of powered speakers which came with a desktop pc many years ago.
They have their own volume control.
When used with the usb plug in audio unit with the rpi I can adjust the audio externally but even on full volume from both rune and speakers it is still very quiet. If I use the speakers with any pc then volume is excellent.
Looks like the answer is within the reply from 'hondagx35' which needs careful driving for me not being very advanced in setting up the pi although i have used ssh.
