Userinterface on the Raspi monitor

Postby Round333 » 27 Aug 2014, 10:22

Hello,
its nice to have the possibility to operate with the mobil phone or PC. But why isn't it possible to operate on the raspberry connected monitor? Is it possible to start a browser like avahi with the operate web page instead of the logon screen?

You have to install a X server and a browser, then you can do this.
This needs a lot of more space on the SD card. Also it's not what the majority of users needs because you also have to connect mouse and keyboard to control it.

and that will cause a reasonable performance hit on the Pi due to the graphics overhead.

Hi,
I'm not a regular Arch Linux user (the Runeaudio base system), so I cannot tell the exact steps. You have to login to your player via ssh and use pacman to install the desired software. Maybe pacman -S firefox is enough to get the browser and it's dependencies.
