Volume Knob Help

Postby deenski » 23 Jul 2016, 17:01

Hello all,

This is my first Raspberry Pi project and I could use some help. I am building a "radio" for my grandmother. I have runeaudio up and running on my raspberry pi 3. I have the HifiBerry amp+ attached and working, hooked up to a rockford fosgate r14x2 four inch speaker which I have mounted inside of an old RCA Victor radio case. I have about 1000 songs from the 40's - 60's loaded up and playing on shuffle and repeat. I am one step away from having the complete functionality I desire. My grandma is losing her eyesight and memory and I just want to get this done while she can still enjoy it. The missing piece of the puzzle is a volume knob. I have a rotary encoder with a push button. I have no idea how to interface this with the raspberry pi. I know a little python, but not much, and will likely need my hand held through this. The functionality I seek with the rotary encoder is very simple. Push the button = mute/unmute, turn the knob = raise and lower the volume. That's it, that's all!

I've searched and searched the forums and have been unable to locate a definitive guide as to what to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi deenski,

i would save it in /var/www/command

To start a service at boottime i would do it like this:
post14469.html?hilit=service#p14469
