Volume low with 0.2 beta

Postby floric » 03 Feb 2014, 22:24

Hello,

I am using the runeaudio 0.2 beta on a raspberry pi. For the output I use the miniStreamer (http://www.minidsp.com/products/usb-aud ... nistreamer) which is a usb audio to spdif interface. The spdif is fed into my dac, as all my digital sources. My flac files are on a local usb disc.

The setup works very well and gives good sound, no cracks or anything, at least with 44.1kHz files.

But: the volume is very low, I think more than 6dB lower than e.g. the identical hardware setup using other OS/Software Packages (e.g. Volumio, Openelec) and than my other digital sources.

As it is not a hardware problem - the hardware works perfectly, the volume must be reduced anywhere in the software.

Any hints, where this might be?

Best regards

...what I forgot to mention:

The behaviour is the same, no matter if I disable the volume control (the GUI shows 100) or if I enable the volume control and set it to 100. The volume control works if enabled.

Kind regards

Hi floric, which type of volume control have you tried? The hardware one or the software one? You could have the first one set to a lower value, so the software one could only reach the maximum level of the hardware one.
You can also check it via alsamixer command from terminal.

Hi ACX,

thank you for the quick reply.

I used the software volume control.

alsamixer shows that the PCM-Volume is set to -20dB. If I set the volume control to hardware, the display shows 64. If I turn it up, the volume increases (who wonders) and the display in alsamixer too.

But after a reboot these settings are gone and low again.

Is there a config file where I can set the hardware-volume setting to 100 resp. 0dB?

Regards

Hi,

now I get some unpredictable behaviour. Just to find out why: Does the UI store the Volume settings anywhrere? Is this information read on startup?
