Volume with Spotify

I thought I read a discussion about it, but I'm unable to find it ..
Can you confirmed that the volume still does not work with Spotify?
With other sources the hardware volume is ok, but with spotify I fixed at 100%.

I've opened an issue regarding the Spotify volume control:
I'd love this to come true...

Are there any updates on this? May be some one with the knowledge could explain a little why this doesn't work?
