Wifi walkthrough request

Hi. I'm tearing my hair out here, and I'm hoping to get some help. Here's what I'm trying to do:

Run RuneAudio on a Raspberry Pi B+ with IQaudIO DAC+, with music streaming off a HDD through a DLNA router, and controlled with RuneUI from my Android phone.

But I just can't seem to get it to work. When I have the Pi hooked up to my PC, and the HDD plugged into the Pi, everything works as it should. My problem is taking the leap from here to having everything running over wi-fi. I have turned on DLNA in RuneUI settings and entered the connection details to my router. But when I unplug everything and set it up near my hi-fi, nothing works - not even when I have the HDD running straight into the Pi.

I'm sure that whatever I'm doing wrong is a basic mistake, but I'm kind of new to this (although I can play movies from my HDD through the router on my wi-fi enabled blu-ray player without trouble). So what I'm looking for, but can't seem to find, is a walkthrough for the setup I've described (in bold). Would anyone be so kind as to help me out with this?

Sounds similar to my power issues that i mentioned earlier.

The wifi and/or the HDD is pulling too much power from the pi. Also, what power supply are you using for the pi? 2A minimum is my advice. It is hard to debug power issues on the pi because somethings work and others don't. It can be fickle like that.

I'm using a 5V 2A PS. The problem seems to lie in getting communication happening between the Pi, the router, and the phone. Like I said, with the Pi running through the router via ethernet, everything is fine. But the wi-fi just ain't happening.
