Hello, new to this forum. First off, I'd like to thank the developers for this great piece of software. I've been using it since 2016 (RPi 3B platform) and like it a lot. Extremely easy to set-up, everything just works out-of-box, clean and simple UI, very responsive and there's an app.
I also tried 'the others'. Volumio was just as easy to install, offers a lot of customization and looks very snazzy.
Moode required (in my case) some tweaking to get the NAS share and USB DAC to work, looks equally fancy but its UI is a bit 'too much' for my taste. In the end, I always return to RuneAudio because of that (IMO) wonderful and responsive black/blue/white interface.
To cut to the chase: over the years I've seen a lot of comments in forums about RuneAudio not being maintained.
Volumio and Moode bring out new versions on a regular basis, while the download page of RuneAudio still offers '0.3-beta' from March 2016. You have to dig through the forum to find a 'Frank version 0.4-beta' and a 'janui version 0.5-beta'.
RuneAudio, Volumio and Moode all seem to originate from the same project. Yet, after so many years RuneAudio is still stuck at a beta version?
So, I wonder why the developers do not make the transition from beta to RC to final. Are they not confident about their work, is there no lead in the revision management or is there something else?
What's holding them from putting out the next update under the name 'RuneAudio 1.0' and take it from there, focusing on stability and hardware support? There is development, but for some reason it's a bit obscured. I think that's a pity - RuneAudio is a great product that deserves a wide(r) audience.
Keep up the good work - just make it more visible.
