Postby mamekedi » 12 Feb 2015, 11:37

Hello Guys,

i'm a newby with this project so i have a litte question:

Which Sound Card to buy for Raspberry Pi Model B+

1: Hifi Berry Dac
2: Hifi Berry Digi+

Or something else ?

My raspberry is connected to my Marantz SR6003 Amp/Receiver is has digital and anolog inputs.
what is the best solution for me to get the best sound quality.

Best regards,

Both should work well. Digital has some advantages as does analog but you won't know until you try them. Some receivers have nice dacs built in, some do not. You could go down the rabbit hole and find the specs for that marantz and the dac used and find the way it was implemented, but really, it gets a bit academic.

My suggestion would be, buy them both. Test them on your ears. They are cheap and if you end up with a spare unit, give it away to a friend or set it up in another room.

Just to be clear, you are looking at the Dac+ for the B+. https://www.hifiberry.com/dacplus/

I might start a war with what I'm going to say, but I'm going to spam my experience/opinion anyway.
DA converters are even less critical than amplifiers, as long as you don't buy serious crap. :o

That said I think your Marantz DAC is ok. Hifiberry together with a raspberry in one case is also a very nice solution.
