Worked final then no audio after restart

Postby KeithG2965 » 16 Sep 2016, 19:42

I am a complete noob to both the Raspberry Pi and to RuneAudio and to Linux.

Yesterday I loaded Rune Audio version RuneAudio_rpi2_rp3_0.4-beta_20160321_2GB to a new 32 GB Samsung EVO Class 10 mSD card, plugged in to my new Raspberry Pi 3b and to my surprise it booted up. I connected to my network, my server, got my song files indexed from the server and was able to play tracks both to the analog connection and via my usb DAC an Emotiva Big Ego connected to a usb hub. Everything sounded great at least from the usb DAC. I got wireless network set up and connected via my iPad Pro to the Rune UI wirelessly. I then enable UPnP and connected via the iPad with Linn Kinsky again everything going perfectly.

Then I used setup to switch to hardware volume control which the Emotiva Big Ego supports. At lis point I decided to shut the Raspberry Pi down from the Menu. I let it go through shut down and unplugged it. I plugged it back in and everything booted up fine Rune UI looks just as it did initially except that there is not audio either from analog or usb. On analog I van ever so faintly here the selected track playing underneath the noise but adjusting the volume control has no effect. I have re-adjusted settings, rebooted several times but no matter what I do there is no audio. I have verified that my usb DAC is working with other sources and Rune UI shows its presence.

I have no idea what to do next and will welcome suggestions on what to try. Please remember I am totally new to all of this and may have lots of question about terminology, tools etc.

I have tried what you suggested to no avail.

The debug info is on pastebin: http://pastebin.com/1NZhAd5f

I hope this helps.

As I stated initially, The Emotive Big Ego was working flawlessly in the beginning and playing everything unto 24bit/358.4KHz without dropouts over WiFi. My problems started when I made a change, shut down and restarted.

Hi smallfat,

we first have to get his system back to work.
After that you have to find the correct mixer device with alsamixer.

Tried using ssh from my MacMini terminal to get access to Console. Did not work for me.

Here is Terminal session:

I did not get prompted for a login, just password. I tried both 'rune' and 'raspberry' as passwords and was denied access.

Thanks, Keith
